NUEPA invites ISF to a Workshop on sharing strategies for Promoting Girls’ Education |

ISF and its partner NGOs participated in a 3 day workshop organized by the National University of Educational Planning and Administration on February 26th to 28th, 2008. The workshop entailed sharing of strategies for promoting girls’ education by participants from across the country. Vineeta Sinha from ISF also made a presentation at this forum on ISF’s survey findings and strategies being followed under its Girls Going to School Initiative. |

Unit Tests conducted at all centers |
Monitoring Visits to Partner NGOs |
| During March – April, Unit Tests designed at ISF are being conducted at all the RECs, to assess the learning progress of the children over the past year of the programme. Approximately 80% of the RECs (1128 girls) have already been tested and the results are under review. |

Monitoring visits are being simultaneously conducted at all the RECs. The ISF board and other team members visited some centres recently for surprise assessments. |

Success at Physiotherapy center: The Ripple Effect |

ISF is supporting a physiotherapy center for the differently abled in Deeg, Rajasthan being run by its partner NGO, SARD.
Pappan a 14 year old boy from Deeg has suffered from Post Polio Relief Paralysis for many years. Regular visits to the center for exercises and support soon led to a speedy improvem
ent and visible changes in his way of walking. In Pappan’s village, there was another boy named Rinku suffering from Cerebral Palsy. This child’s parents were not giving him any medical support but were relying on the local “black magic” expert. Pappan spoke to Rinku’s parents about the Physiotherapy Center and how he had benefited from it and succeeded in motivating them to bring their child to the center for support. |

ISF sponsors cultural event for underprivileged children at the India Habitat Center |

|
|
Children from 61 NGOs participated in a cultural programme and painting competition held on 15th - 17th
February, 2008 organized by the Habitat Learning Center. Children got an opportunity to showcase their talents through painting, skits, plays, songs and dance. |
