Why should Corporates be involved? Corporates
should get involved because: - Of the' feel good factor'. Most corporates
care for their communities and should make contributions for their own satisfaction
- Involvement in social causes can directly and indirectly benefit corporates
e.g. projecting a better image to its customers and shareholders in addition to
getting more recognition and visibility in the business world.
- It makes
good business sense because of tax benefits.
How can Corporates
help?
They can:
- Donate to, or partner with an NGO of
their choice
- Incorporate a scheme encouraging employees to choose either
a fixed amount or a percentage of their salary to be deducted at source for supporting
a social endeavor
- Donate in kind such as stationary, infrastructure facilities,
computers etc
- Give their staff the opportunity to volunteer their managerial
skills and time
- Donate share certificates.
- Promote the benefits
of science and technology to the marginalised section e.g. Computer education,
provide agriculture information on-line in rural areas, etc
- Support projects
that enrich the environment
- Fund the construction of public utilities.
-
Market artisans' products
How does ISF make CSR (Corporate Social
Responsibility) simple for Corporates? - With visibility and contacts
in India and abroad, India Sponsor is well positioned to help corporates that
wish to get involved in the social sector
- ISF can provide corporates with
access to pre-selected NGOs that meet its strict standards of transparency and
accountability; and it can also help corporates identify projects, resources,
or people who can best help them meet their objectives
The process
of contributing to the social sector has been made easier by ISF. You may
select from the three different options listed below:
- Select
and Support an NGO from the ISF Recommended list
- Work closely with ISF
to come up with a hands-on approach to building a programme/project that best
fits your organisation's vision
- ISF can help you link up with other corporates,
to work towards a common goal.
Corporate Donors/Special Programmes ISF
can help Corporates fulfill their social responsibilities by providing links and
helping them partner, or develop special programmes with NGOs. Examples of corporate
partnerships and special programs are given below: - Svayam Sudhar Shiksha
Project, Sector 5 Harola, Noida, UP. ISF in partnership with Xansa India Ltd.
has undertaken responsibility for the complete up-gradation of the Junior High
School in Harola, Noida, UP. The school has 1700 students in grades I-VIII and
lacks the basic infrastructure facilities amongst other things.
This project
aims at:- Refurbishing the building and equipping it with electricity
and other utilities
- Providing drinking water and toilet facilities
-
A computer education center has been set up for IT education
- Plans are
in progress for providing holistic health care to the children
- Teachers
have been hired, and volunteers recruited to encourage and promote attendance
and academic progress for the children
- Teachers are being counseled to
rejuvenate the teaching process
- We hope to be able to replicate this model
of up-gradation in other schools
- Other examples of CSR - Hughes
Software Systems Ltd., (HSS), because of its belief that ISF can help reach
out and better the lives of many, is creating and maintaining this website free
of cost
- HSS launched its Outreach Program with the aim of pioneering Infotech
education for underprivileged children in the neighbouring Carterpuri School
in April 2000. They helped build an Infotech Lab, donated computers and other
resources
to make the Lab functional, and helped build the primary wing of the school adding
two more rooms to the facility. HSS employees enthusiastically volunteered
to
conduct vocational training classes for the students
