| Orientation workshop at the Jamia Hamdard University for the NGO network group for planning and finalizing activities and timelines of the campaign for the next year. |

| 15th April to August 2006: Admission Drive and Camps by the Network Group |
|
 |
|
| Admission drives through Prabhat Pheris and rallies by children, painting and slogan writing competitions, street plays in all the NGO locations during this fortnight. Two camps were organized by each NGO to sensitize the community about girls’ education and also assisted the parents in the actual admission process. | August-September 2006:Survey on Status of Girls’ Education in Delhi Slums |

ISF and its NGO partners undertook a comprehensive survey of underprivileged areas spread over 5 districts of Delhi to understand the educational status, especially of girl children.

| 20th September 2006 - Seminar on Status of Girls’ Education in Urban Slum Communities |
|
 |
|
| A Seminar on Status of girls’ education in urban slum communities was organized by the campaign network. Eminent people working in the field of girls’ education were present at the seminar along with our NGO partners. The seminar provided an opportunity for discussion on issues involved with girls’ education in the context of urban slums and helped the campaign group prioritize, focus, strengthen and carry forward the movement based on these issues. |

| December 2006 - January 2007 : Children's Consultation Process |

| A consultation exercise- child speak, was conducted with 315 children in the campaign areas. The consultation process focused on creating a space where the children could voice their opinion regarding their expectations from the community, parents and schools. |

| February 2007- Children’s Charter |
|
 |
|
| The children’s consultation process resulted in a Children’s Charter which highlighted the 10 most wanted things by children in their schools. The charter brought out the needs and expectations of the children from the schooling system. |

| 7th March 2007- Stakeholder Workshop |
|
 |
|
| The Survey highlights were presented in the stakeholder workshop organized on 7th March (Eve of international Women’s Day) on ‘Rights and Realities’ of girl education in India. The workshop included a participation from the government, NGO sector as well as community members from the under-privileged colonies (girl-children and parents) for a holistic view of the issue of girl child education. It provided a forum to address the issues based on the findings and determine strategies for enabling girls to get into school. |

| 6th April 2007-Fund Raising Concert (No Girl Child Left Behind) |

| An evening of rich Indian music by India’s premier fusion band-Indian Ocean was organized on the 6th of April, as a fund raising initiative for the campaign for girl-child education. The event was a platform for our donors to interact and experience in person, the work that has been done for the girl child initiative in its inception year and felicitate our NGO partners for their dedication and commitment to the cause of the girl child. |

| April-August 2007 - Admission Drives |
|

|
Admissions drives began in the campaign locations.
Admission booths and camps were set up to guide parents about the admission process. These camps acted as an interface between the school authorities and the parents. |

| June 2007-Survey Report Released |
|
 |
|
The Survey Report on the status of girls education in Delhi slums was released in June 2007. The report presented the number and ratio of girls and boys out of school along with the reasons for children not attending or dropping out of school.
The report also brought out a reality check on the 32 primary schools surveyed. |

| June 2007(11th -30th) - Children’s Theater Workshop |
|
 |
|
| Theater workshops were conducted by 3-theater groups-Nectar foundation of India, Jamghat and I-entertainment, which worked closely with the children from 8 of the campaign locations. The 18-day workshop centered around girl-child education and other issues concerning them. The workshop led to the creation of a core theater group by the children to stage street plays and spread awareness in their communities regarding the importance of education. |

| July 2007- Teachers Training Workshop |
|

|
| Organized by ISF, Society for All Round Development conducted a 5-day teachers training workshop to enhance the capacities of the teachers. The workshop, attended by a total of 45 teachers from 10 NGO’s in Delhi (including 7 of ISF’s partner NGOs) aimed to instill a student centric approach to the method of teaching. A special focus of the training was on the use and creation of Teaching Learning Material for bringing clarity of concepts through visual aids. |

| Remedial Education Centers |
|

| Currently, ISF is supporting, 30 Remedial Education Centers (REC) in 9 slums of Delhi providing academic support to over eleven hundred girls, who were enrolled in MCD schools during admission drives. |
|

| 'STEPPING STONES' Exercises at all Remedial Centers |
|
 |
|
| 'STEPPING STONES', (pre-tests), were conducted on 852 children in 30 Remedial Education Centers of seven partner NGOs. These helped separate children into groups with different paces of learning. |

| ISF has contributed a report on the status of education of children in Delhi's slums as part of NGO review and report for a comprehensive CRC (Child Rights Convention) report to be submitted to the UN Committee since India is a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of Child, accepted by the UN General Assembly in 1989. |

| Survey training for Phase II Partners |

|
| Two new GGS Phase II implementing partner NGOs were trained by the ISF team for carrying out initial baseline surveys in their respective areas. The training was followed by a pilot survey which helped troubleshoot some problems so as to ensure that they are not replicated. |
|

| TLM and introduction to MGML training in Partner NGOs |

| Capacity building of teachers and coordinators of the NGO partners conducted as a step towards building MODEL RECs where quality education is provided using relevant, subject and age appropriate Teaching Learning Material. Some basic concepts of Multi Grade Multi Level Teaching were also introduced. |

| MIS Training |

ISF developed Management Information Systems (MIS)
- To ensure uniformity of reporting systems so that all the partner NGOs effectively record and report important developments in the same format.
- To ensure that the teachers and coordinators at the RECs are trained in use of MIS.

| 15th - 17th February: ISF sponsors cultural event for underprivileged children at the India Habitat Center |
|
 |
|
| Children from 61 NGOs participated in a cultural programme and painting competition organized by the Habitat Learning Center. The children got an opportunity to showcase their talents through painting, skits, plays, songs and dance. |
|
| 26th- 28th February: NUEPA Workshop on sharing strategies for Promoting Girls' Education |
|

|
| ISF and its partner NGOs were invited and participated in a 3 day workshop organized by the National University of Educational Planning and Administration. The workshop entailed sharing of strategies by participants from across the country for promoting girls' education. ISF made a presentation at this forum on its survey findings and strategies being followed under its 'Girls Going to School' initiative. |

| 25th April 2008: Charity Concert in Support of Girl Child |

Fusion Rock Band, Mrigya performed at the Sathya Sai International Center on 8th April 2008 in support of ISF’s cause of the Girl Child. April saw us abuzz with preparations for this annual fundraiser.During the event, coordinators were felicitated, who had gone beyond the call of duty and made a huge impact. Sabita Sinha, Vineeta Jha and Kanchan Gera , coordinators from our NGO partners, were honoured on this day, along with ISF’s own Pallavi Upadhyaya, who has made a phenomenal contribution to ISF ’s initiative on the` girl child.
Children from the community were also present at the event and shared stories of their hardships and how the centers have made a difference to their lives.

| Report contributed to the Child Rights Convention Review |

| ISF contributed a report on the status of education of children in Delhi's slums as a part of the NGO review and report for a comprehensive CRC (Child Rights Convention) report. | On the Quality Education Wagon - Supported by Leaders' Quest |

| As a part of the new intervention at MCD schools in South Delhi, a 5 day teacher training/ workshop was organized at ISF. The workshop covered training on the effective use of Teaching Learning Materials, strategies to be used for working with slow learners and helping bridge the learning gaps and other areas that go into creating an ideal learning ambience for children. |

| Saral Shiksha |

| The Saral Shiksha Project in Munirka is being implemented in partnership with VIDYA and supported by Children's Hope, USA. This programme deals with remedial and non-formal education. It runs in two shifts and covers classes from preschool to Class 8. |

| Model Remedial Education Centers opened at 5 new government MCD schools in Okhla |
|

|
5 Model RECs were set up in MCD schools in South Delhi. These are run in partnership with the MCD schools and our implementing partner, Sakshi - Center for Information, Education and Communication. Through this initiative, ISF hopes to assist the MCD schools in helping bridge the learning gaps of children through innovative teaching techniques. |

| Right to Education: Actions Now |

| ISF was invited to participate in a seminar on Right to Education - Actions Now, organized by the Aspen Institute, CII & Shiksha. ISF presented a paper on "Issues related to Primary Education" which was circulated amongst the participants. |

| Jan 13, 2009: Math-e-magic workshop |
|

|
| A Maths workshop for all the REC teachers was organized by ISF at its office.
The focus was to make Math learning fun by using basic concepts through classroom activities and increasing the involvement of a larger number of students in the process.
The results at the Remedial Education Centers (RECs) were very encouraging as the number of children with 86-100 per cent marks in Math increased by 10.9% from the First to the Final term. |

| Collaboration with Mobile Crèches and SSMI |

| In collaboration with Mobile Crèches and SSMI, training programs for teachers were periodically conducted on curriculum development, pedagogic strategy, practices and processes for the first generation learners and community mobilization strategies.
Our constant endeavor is to build up the capacity of the teachers to ensure that quality education is imparted in the centers. In order to support its partner NGOs in developing their own organizational systems, ISF organized for them, an orientation session on good governance, transparency and accountability. | Balwadis Our New Initiative: |
|

|
| Balwadis are pre-school learning centers for children in the age group of 4-6 years. It has been our experience that pre-school education improves enrollment and retention of girls in primary schools, and also provides them early childhood development opportunities.
The Balwadis were opened after a survey was conducted by the NGOs, in June-July 2009, to identify 4-6 year olds in the communities. |

| November 1, 2009: Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM 2009) |

| ISF's sponsors, friends and 30 girls from the GGS program being run in Delhi slums, participated in the Delhi Half Marathon to raise awareness about girls' education. All the runners were in high spirits and ran the 'Great Delhi Run', (7km), with great excitement. |

| October 20th, 2009: OLIVE distributes lunch to GGS children |

| The OLIVE restaurant celebrated the International Chef's Day by distributing nutritious lunch to around 250 delighted children from BNS and NIPUN.

| In the presence of the Chief Guest, Ms. Lekha Srivastava, Executive Director of The India Sponsor Foundation, the children of the NIPUN Basti Pathshala celebrated their Annual Day with full zeal and confidence. The highlight of the day was the exhibition on Child Rights and Global Warming. |

| 20th-21st March, 2010, Samanjasya: |
|

| ISF associated with VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur, as an NGO Partner for the event Saamanjasya 2010. This novel initiative brought the Corporates and NGOs under one roof with the aim of making sustainable, replicable and stronger Corporate-NGO partnerships. Saamanjasya provided students from varied backgrounds an opportunity to look at live study cases/ issues from select NGOs and come up with innovative solutions for the same. Also, students were asked to use social media to propagate the relevant causes of all the NGO Partners.
ISF's live case study was based on 'How to make the community take ownership, come forward and undertake the running of the Crèches and Preschool Learning Centers without any external funding'.
The ISF case study was won by students from the Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB), who came up with some executable ideas and plan to do a month-long project with us in the near future.

| 30th -31st March, 2010, SSMI training on Poetry & Classroom management: |

|
| A two day teacher training/workshop on poetry and classroom management was held for the REC and the Baldwari teachers on 30th-31st of March, 2010, by SSMI, at their premises. The purpose of the training programme was to look at alternative methods and good practices in teaching, to make the teachers at the REC and the Balwadi well equipped and to give them practical grounding in the field. This kind of training helps to improve teaching patterns and also the quality of teachers.
At the end of 7 capacity building workshops, SSMI will give each teacher a manual covering the content of the training sessions.

| Building strong linkages between MCD schools and the GGS programme: |
|

|
| Beginning this year, ISF is formalizing its association with the MCD schools and customizing its Remedial Education Center teaching to work in parallel with that of these Schools. The MCD school teachers work hard to improve the performance of children from the under privileged sections of society, to help them grow into responsible citizens and fare better in life. It is important for all stake holders and NGO groups working in this sector to co-ordinate their efforts with those of the MCD school teachers to jointly benefit the children. |

| Leaders Quest Visit: |
|

|
| A team of eight headed by Lindsay and Jayma from Leaders' Quest visited the BNS balwadi centre and also SSMI. They felt privileged to be able to witness the SSMI midday meal programme and the hard work that goes into this. The team found this to be very inspirational because it was being run despite many challenges. They left with memories, stories and feeling inevitably changed. |

| BNS, NIPUN, ISF with Mobile Creche team on a visit to Balwadis & Anganwadis in Village Harola: |

| ISF, along with its partners NIPUN and BNS, visited some anganwadis and balwadis in Village Harola (UP). These are a part of a project started in 2004 by Mobile crèches and ISF. It was interesting to see how these centres are being run successfully by the women of the community. The idea was to see if these could be replicated with our other NGO partners.
